Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Compliance
OnlineDonations is committed to protecting the privacy of children online. Our website and services are intended primarily for use by high school and college teams, coaches, and their supporters. However, in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we take special precautions if children under the age of 13 participate in fundraising activities
Information We Collect from Children Under 13
If a child under 13 uses our platform with their school or team, we may collect the following limited personal information:
- Name, team or group affiliation, and fundraising campaign participation.
- Contact information (such as email) only if provided with verified parental consent. A Parent email is used for all campaigns when a Child under the age of 13 is participating in an OnlineDonations fundraiser.
- Donor-related acknowledgments, where appropriate.
- Technical identifiers (such as cookies or IP addresses) used for website functionality and security.
We do not require a child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in fundraising activities
Parental Consent
Before we collect, use, or share any personal information from a child under 13, we will seek verifiable parental consent. Parents may provide consent by:
- Completing and signing a consent form and returning it via email or upload.
- Providing a valid payment card transaction as verification.
- Other methods permitted by the FTC for verifying parental identity.
Without verified parental consent, we will not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from a child under 13.
Parental Rights
Parents of children under 13 have the right to:
- Review the personal information we have collected from their child.
- Request that we delete their child’s information.
- Refuse to allow any further collection or use of their child’s information.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Compliance Policy

OnlineDonations (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of student education records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 U.S.C. §1232g; 34 CFR Part 99.
What is FERPA?
FERPA is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. Schools, school districts, and institutions that receive funds under applicable programs of the U.S. Department of Education must comply with FERPA.
Our Role
- OnlineDonations provides fundraising tools and services to schools, districts, and athletic programs.
- In doing so, we may be given limited access to certain student information solely for the purpose of facilitating online donation campaigns.
- We act as a “school official” under FERPA, with a legitimate educational interest, only when authorized by the school or district.
Information We Collect
- Student name, team, or activity affiliation (only when provided by the school/program)
- Parent/guardian or donor contact information (when voluntarily submitted)
- Donation records related to a school activity
We do not request or maintain sensitive education records such as grades, social security numbers, disciplinary history, or standardized test results.
How We Use Information
- To facilitate fundraising campaigns authorized by the school or district
- To communicate with donors about contributions and receipts
- To provide schools with reports about campaign results
We do not sell, share, or use student information for advertising or marketing purposes.
Data Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect student and donor data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
Rights of Parents and Eligible Students
Under FERPA, parents (or eligible students, age 18 or older) have the right to:
- Inspect and review the student’s education records
- Request amendment of inaccurate or misleading information
- Consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information from education records, except as otherwise permitted by law
Requests related to student records collected through OnlineDonations should be directed to the student’s school or district, which remains the official custodian of records.
